Most people go to the hospital when they get sick to help them get healthier. People do not realize the number of infections that they can pick up while they are in the hospital. Hospital infections are one of the biggest complications that people will face during a hospital stay. Many of the infections can be avoided if more common sense was used.

  • People who visit a patient should always wash their hands. This includes visitors and doctors and nurses. If a doctor or nurse does not wash their hands in front of a patient they should be asked to do so before any examination.
  • People who are not feeling well should avoid visiting people in a hospital.
  • Linens and clothes should be changed regularly to make sure they are clean.

These steps will not stop all infections but they are a good way to reduce the amount of infections that people pick up while they are staying in the hospital.
